Are they my soulmate..?
No matter where you are in the world, being with a soulmate feels like home.
There isn’t a scientifically agreed-upon definition for “soulmate.” But humans are in a small club in the animal kingdom that can form long-term relationships. I’m not talking about sexual monogamy. Humans evolved with the neurocircuitry to see another person as special. We have the capacity to single someone out from the crowd, elevate them above all others and then spend decades with them.
In other words, soulmates are made possible for us because of the way our brain is wired.
Plato introduced the first reference to something like a soulmate in his Symposium, where he wrote: “Each of us, then, is a ‘matching half’ of a human whole…and each of us is always seeking the half that matches him.”
The idea of soulmates is deeply ingrained in humanity, yet answering the question “Are they my soulmate?” remains subjective and challenging – If you’re willing to work on yourself and what you bring to a relationship, in relationship counselling or couples therapy, maybe your “matching half?” can be that special person for you again.
